For different jQuery / JavaScript-related reasons, I am using a style design with the display: Tables and displays: Table-Cell data represents the markup that looks like this:
& lt; Div style = "display: table; width: 100%" & gt; & Lt; Div style = "display: table-cell; width: 20%;" & Gt; Content & lt; / Div & gt; & Lt; Div style = "display: table-cell; width: 60%; max-width: 600px; overflow: hidden;" & Gt; Tall stuff & lt; / Div & gt; & Lt; Div style = "display: table-cell; width: 20%;" & Gt; Content & lt; / Div & gt; & Lt; / Div & gt; The style is not really in the style of CSS but is a style feature, but it is a general idea. The width of the site itself is certain, so Pixel #.
It works perfectly in all browsers except this IE8 (I have not tested in IE9). In IE8 however, the center column is ignoring overflow and max-width properties. Is this a bug in IE8? If so, is it possible to solve it without finding a new way to tablet my data?
Thank you.
You should not use the = symbol inside a style attribute. You should use : . This is probably your problem Change max-width = 60px to max-width: 60px
