entity - what have I to use uml or ER model -

I know that UML is a general purpose modeling language, but to use it as a data model, a data Is the model being used as ER? Or is it only being used as an indication for the association relationship diagram?

While designing database schema, both can be considered equivalent. In fact, most database tools now present both notation as an option when modeling the database.
